There are a number of mistakes you can make when entering sweepstakes that can get you disqualified or prevent you from winning. These mistakes may seem like common knowledge, but it is amazing how many of them are still being made; even by experienced sweepers. Follow these simple rules and luck will be on your side more often……Best of Luck

1. Always Read The Rules

Granted the rules can very long are arduous but it is critical that you read them before entering. You will get used to the jargon they use quickly so going over the rules is going to take less and less time. Reading the rules is one way of avoiding entering contests you stand no chance of winning.

2. After Reading The Rules – Follow Them Meticulously

If sweepstakes are nothing else, they are rule followers. Individuals can be disqualified for any variation, however slight, on what the rules specify.
Don’t Lie About Your Eligibility

Sweepstakes are used to market products to the manufacturers target audience. If you do not qualify – do not enter. For example, don’t enter contest for smokers if you are not one. The sponsor of the sweepstakes will find out and you will be disqualified. There are a lot of sweepstakes to enter so only choose the ones you qualify for.

3. Don’t Enter If You Don’t Want The Prize

Be picky about which sweepstakes you enter, don’t just enter for the sake of it. Doing this will only leave you with a clutter house, full of unwanted items that you had to pay taxes on. Choose sweepstakes that offer prizes you really want.

4. Don’t Expect To Win Instantly

It takes most people some time to start winning after they start entering sweepstakes. The sweepstake process is a long one all on its own so being patient is the only option.

5. Don’t Complain About What You Win

Sponsors are less likely to run more sweepstakes if the winners complain about the prizes they win. Their marketing budget can be spent in other ways so don’t provoke them. Be gracious about your win, unless there is a serious and genuine problem with the prize. Unless specifically stated in the rules, most sponsors will not substitute cash for the prizes so don’t ask. Be thankful for the prize and hope to win an even better one the next time.

6. Always Check Your Entries Before Submitting Them

Before submitting your sweepstake entry forms, take a minute to check that all the information is correct and that you have supplied all the information that was required. It only takes a minute and can save you from being disqualified.

7. Always Keep Track Of Your Wins

By keeping a record of your wins you will never miss out on a prize you never received. More so, it will also help you when the tax period comes around again. If you notice a prize has not arrived within the allotted time period, sending a short (friendly) reminder can get the prize on its way to you in no time.

8. Don’t Give Up Too Quickly

The 3 P’s need to be practiced daily when you are entering, and hoping to win sweepstakes. You need to be patient, persistent and always keep a positive attitude. This will keep you from giving up too easily.

9. Don’t Take It Too Seriously

No-one is going to continue doing something that is not fun. Don’t take the winning too seriously or you will be in for a lot of disappointment. If your expectations are not high, and you are having fun doing it, the reward will be even more exciting when you do win.

Start entering sweepstakes, dream about all the fantastic prizes you can win, share your excitement with everyone that will listen and you will soon be living the life of a High Stake Sweeper.
